California company recalls frozen ground

The U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall of 153,630 pounds of frozen ground beef due to possible bacterial contamination.

The FSIS said S&S Foods LLC. of Azusa, Calif., is recalling the beef products because they might be contaminated with E. coli.

Being recalled are 30-pound boxes labeled 742798 MFST, 100 percent ground beef bulk, 80/20, 1lb. brick and include the case code beginning 06238 printed on the side. The boxes, intended for food service and institutional use, were shipped to distribution centers in Allentown, Pa.; and Milwaukee.

The FSIS said it has received 11 reports of illnesses associated with consumption of the ground beef.
