Smith's Snack Service-brand subs recalledThe Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced the recall of Smith's Snack Service-brand small sub sandwiches because of possible contamination. The CFIA said the sandwiches might be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes -- bacteria that can cause listeriosis, a forborne illness. The recalled product -- The manufacturer, Smith's Snack Service Ltd. of Norman's Cove, Newfoundland, is voluntarily recalling the product from the marketplace. For more information, consumers can call the CFIA at 800-442-2342. Scientists work on garbage for gas
U.S. companies are racing to bring gasoline made from wood chips, garbage, crop waste and other materials to market.The U.S. government is offering grants and subsidies to get the plants started in an effort to meet a mandated 36 billion gallons of biofuels a year by 2022, The New York Times said Thursday.
