What are tiny colored lines in Gmail?
Some weeks ago, users of Google mail started to notice that tiny lines in red and light blue colors appeared next to (beside, on top, and/or under) the status of their contacts (see desktop screenshot image).
What do they mean?
No announcement from Google was spotted on this issue. Searching different forums, there were some hints what is really happening.
The answer is simple -- it is a Firefox glitch.
"If you zoom in and out, you'll notice the line changes color... meaning [it’s] obviously not related to anyone's status. It appears to be the border of the small status dot image. If you switch to Internet Explorer, you won't see this line. I spent much time trying to figure out what it could possibly mean, and was sort of [disappointed] that it was just a glitch," writes "Michael 1983" in the Help Discussion’s "Gmail Chat contacts" forum at Google Groups.
Indeed, no lines of any color are in Gmail inbox when using Internet Explorer. Same is when using Chrome, a new web browser for Windows by Google.
