The Romanian Newsroom of Deutsche Welle Has Been Shutdown
By Valeriu Gonta/ Moldova.org/ -- After almost a half century, the Romanian newsroom of the German radio Deutsche Welle will not broadcast anymore as of today. It used to broadcast in the Republic of Moldova and Romania.
According to the official website of Deutsche Welle, the multimedia offer of the Romanian newsroom will continue its activity on the webpage with new formats and more information of all the realms from Germany, Romania, Republic of Moldova, Europe and the whole world.
The first broadcast of Deutsche Welle was put live on August 19, 1963. The shutdown of the radio isn’t the only one that happened in the last ten years. In 2008, the Romanian newsroom of the BBC Radio closed its broadcasting to Romania and Moldova, as well. At that time, 46 employees had to be fired. Even Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty from Bucharest shutdown its activity in Romania at the beginning of 2008; at that time the country losing two important newsrooms.
