Sex sells...for $13 million
By Stela Roman
The sex.com internet domain has been sold for $13 million. The domain was put up for auction when Escom LLC filed for bankruptcy in July of this year.
Escom is now set on selling the domain to Clover Holdings Ltd as they bid the highest of the 12 bidders. Clover Holdings is a company registered on the Caribbean island of St Vincent.
Although $13 million is a lot for a domain, the company isn't very lucky. Escom is reported to have bought sex.com for between $12 and $14 million in 2006.
The sale will only be final if it wins approval from the bankruptcy court overseeing Escom LLC's affairs. The court will make that decision on 27 October.
