Samsung offers WiMAX to the U.S. Army
WiMAX is a global technology that permits wireless data to be transmitted through wide-area networks. Samsung is using WiMAX in offering to its users wireless Internet speeds of up to 10Mbps while traveling at 75 miles per hour. They are currently working to increase the speed and also to expand the list of those that they are providing WiMAX to.
One of the potential users of Samsung WiMAX services is the U.S. Army. In the next months, their Communications Electronics Research & Development Engineering Center (CERDEC) will help Samsung test their Mobile WiMAX network. The experiments will take place at Ft. Dix in New Jersey by the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance On-The-Move team.
The U.S. Army has its own interests when it comes to testing the Mobile WiMAX network, as it could help them transmit important information almost in no time, virtually in any place, even if it is quite consistent.
