Samsung, Google Partner at CES 2007

At the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Samsung and Google have announced a global cooperation allowing Samsung mobile phone users around the world quick and easy access to Google products and services.

As part of this deal, Samsung mobile phones will come equipped with Google applications to enable users search for information, find locations, and manage their email on the go.
Starting early this year, select Samsung phones will be provided with a range of Google products and services including: Google Search; Google Maps for mobile - for viewing maps and satellite imagery, finding local businesses, and getting driving directions on the go; plus Gmail for mobile devices - for bringing more speed, convenience, and functionality to the mobile Gmail experience.

Samsung has already launched its first mobile handset equipped with Google mobile search and Gmail services; the Ultra Edition SGH-Z720.

Like the Ultra Edition SGH-Z720, Samsung plans to ship several handsets that are Google-ready in future.

Announcing the collaboration, Kitae Lee, President of Samsung's Telecommunication Network Business, said, "We are very thrilled to introduce Samsung mobiles with one-click access to Google services. Our cooperation with Google exemplifies our commitment to leading the evolution from the fixed-Internet era to a mobile Internet era, and ushering in a ubiquitous world where mobile enables our consumers to access information about anything, anywhere, anytime."

"Samsung and Google will enhance users' mobile experience with a powerful, yet easy-to-use handset, with simple access to information and personal management," Lee said.

Deep Nishar, Director of Wireless Products and Strategy, Google, said, "Google is dedicated to providing users around the world with easier access information and services when they are mobile. Working with an industry leader like Samsung is a great way to accomplish that."

"Improving the mobile user experience is of paramount importance to both Samsung and Google, and by working together, we'll be able to bring the power, functionality, and convenience of Google search, Google Maps for mobile, and Gmail for mobile devices to millions of Samsung users across the globe," Nishar said.
