Moldtelecom launched its CDMA 2000 technology-based mobile telephony service
The national fixed telephony operator in Republic of Moldova, Moldtelecom, launched on Thursday, March 1, its mobile telephony net using CDMA 2000 standard, operated on 450 MHz. The service will be provided by the new mobile communications operator, Unite, which is a part of Moldtelecom.
Director General of Moldtelecom, Gheorghe Ursachi, noted on the occasion of commercial launch of the new mobile net that "Unite" comes from the word unification and called on Voxtel and Moldcell to be partners rather than competitors for the new operator.
Ursachi stressed that CDMA 2000 technology is "less expensive both for Moldtelecom, and users".
Asked by BASA, Dorian Postevca, Deputy Commercial Director of Moldtelecom, specified that the tariff policy of the new operator will be accessible for the majority of the potential or existent clients of mobile telephony. "I am sure that currently "Unite" is the most convenient offer on the mobile communications market", Postevca stressed.
"By the end of this year, the company plans to acquire tens of thousands of users", Moldtelecom's Deputy Commercial Director said.
The same source noted that the volume of investment into launching the new net is estimated to more than 400 million lei, resources that were used to purchase equipment and develop the infrastructure. In particular, the new operator is equipped with devices produced by Huawei Technologies Co LTD company (China), Iskratel (Slovenia) and Intracom (Greece).
Moldtelecom's deputy commercial director also said on this occasion that the company proposes CDMA terminals at promotional prices. Thus, the cheapest telephones are proposed at a price of 700 lei and 1,000 lei. All the offers launched by the company also imply bonuses expressed in national minutes.
According to Postevca, the calls sent to and received from GSM operators will be taxed at the tariff of a national call. The same source specified that there are possibilities to support calls with the Transnistrian region, but using other tariffs.
