Mobile network market in Moldova shows growth


The mobile network market in Moldova overcame the recession phase in 2009 and continued its growth. The statement is provided by the National Telecommunications and Informatics Regulatory Agency (NARSI) that made a research on the mobile communications sector development during January-September.

According to the agency administration, the aggregate sales amount of 3 Moldovan operators went up 15.4% in comparison to the analogous period of 2009 and exceeded 2.541 billion lei on October 1. The average profit from a subscriber (ARPU) went up 4.36% - to 105.1 lei.

Specialists of the NARSI said the market condition strengthening was caused by the sales amount growth of the Orange Moldova company (+16%) and in the Moldcell company (+19.5%). At the same time, the Moldtelecom state enterprise's turnover went down 13.8%.

Orange Moldova has 73.03% of the aggregate sales amount in the country; Moldcell - 24.59%, and Moldtelecom - 2.37%. The 4th mobile network operator -Eventis Mobile - does not operate from the beginning of the year because it is in the insolvency process.

The aggregate number of mobile communication users went up 9% and reached 2.96 million persons, and the level of service penetration is 83%.
