Meet the fastest DVD-Burner

Samsung launched its fastest DVD burner, the SH-S203 SATA 20X drive.

"Samsung is a storage technology leader that prides itself on innovation and the ability to bring ultra-advanced technologies to consumers with breakneck speed. Samsung's new SH-S203 is the faster DVD writer on the market giving users the ability to burn more data faster than ever before. This showcases Samsung's commitment to proving best-of-breed technologies that truly benefit the overall user experience," said Kurt Schulz, national sales manager, Samsung Storage Division.

The SH-S203 device is a 20X Serial ATA (SATA) that offers the fastest speeds currently available for DVD-/+R drives. Evidently the SH-S203 also supports dual layer and DVD-Ram disks so it will pose no compatibility problems whatsoever.

Moreover, the SH-S203 features the fastest recording times for most types of DVDs: 20X DVD+/-R recording, 12X DVD-Ram recording, 16X DVD+R DL recording, 12X DVD-R DL recording, 8X DVD+RW recording and 6X DVD-RW recording. While these numbers are indeed head turners, this is still not the first drive ever to deliver the 20X mark. Lite-On units are already capable of doing just that and some NECs and Asus units can write DVD-Rams at 14X.

The SH-S203 will be available worldwide at the price of $70.
