iPhone+iPod= ?
Rumors are saying that Apple is planning to release a cheaper iPhone based on the iPod Nano. Apple has filed a patent application document dated July 5 that refers to a multi functional hand held device with a circular touch pad control, similar to the Nano's scroll wheel.
We believe that iPod Nano will be converted into a phone because it's probably the only way for Apple to launch a lower end phone without severely cannibalizing iPod Nano," said Kevin Chang, an analyst at JP Morgan in Taiwan to Reuters.
He added that the new device would have "rather limited functionality," but it would be attractive to millions of people who want a snazzy new phone but who chafe at the thought of spending $600 for one. Chiang, who says that he heard that a Taiwanese company called Catcher Technology will supply "metal casing" for the phone, is so confident about his speculation that he's even willing to put numbers on it -- Apple could sell 30 to 40 million units of the Nano phone, he says.
The iPod changed the vision of a mp3 player, specialists say that the iPhone will change the vision of a mobile device. It is a great plan to combine both of them, the iPhone and iPod to get a real new product. Apple hopes to conquer all world.
