IPhone – your personal spy (VIDEO)
Chișinău / Moldova.ORG / -- The Guardian newspaper has sparked all kinds of reactions on the Web with a report of two security researchers, who seems to have discovered that Apple's iPhone keeps record of every movement made by its user and stores the information in a secret folder inside the phone.
In addition, the data containing latitude, longitude and timestamp of a person’s staying in a location is then copied to the computer when the devices are synchronized, writes Charles Arthur from The Guardian.
At the same time, Sam Biddle from Gizmodo has used the data he had found in his phone to publish a map, which he claims to be surprisingly accurate with his trips along the East Coast last year.
Biddle writes that the detecting method seems to be based on tower triangulation rather than on GPS, which means disabling "location services" doesn’t help. It seems that the tracking is an option of the iPhones and iPads 4 launched last summer.
So far researchers haven’t yet learned if the information is transmitted to Apple’s remote servers or to the feds.
Sam Biddle requested explanations from Apple. But for the moment remains for each user to decide how this oversight is annoying for him.
