In bed with the enemy: Jobs and Zuckerberg's dinner date
De Stela Roman
Steve Jobs invited Mark Zuckerberg over for dinner. Why? Presumably, Jobs was trying to negotiate better terms for connecting Ping with Facebook.
Ping is Apple's new music-based iTunes social network launched not long ago. Initially, its users could use Facebook Connect to access information stored in their Facebook accounts such as friends lists.
But every relationship has its bumps. Facebook blocked Ping's Connect integration because Apple hadn't made a deal for the social network's support. In Jobs' words, Facebook suggested "onerous terms that we could not agree to."
The big question is obviously what they really talked about and what was the result.
Who hopes for a happy ending?
