Gates- in London to promote Vista to Europe
Moldova.ORG -- Bill Gates presented the consumer release of the new Vista operating system, yestarday in a small auditorium at the British Library in London.Gates will be in Europe for four days, and his visit includes stops in Scotland, Hungary and France.
“Vista will change the digital work style and the digital lifestyle,” Bill Gates said. “Even education will be changed dramatically.”
Gates described Vista features including recording broadcast television directly onto computers, built-in safeguards to prevent damage from viruses spread on the Internet, as well as parental controls that did not receive a great review from members of his own family.
“When I told my son about the new feature to limit his amount of Internet time, he asked, ‘Jeez, is it going to be this way for the rest of my life?’ ” Gates said. “I told him it probably will be as long as you live at home.”
The appearance by Mr. Gates before 100 journalists at the British Library complex was a sharp contrast with the British introduction of Windows XP six years ago at the Royal Festival Hall in London and a guest list that topped 1,000. The event also was more subdued than the marketing blitz Microsoft put on in Times Square in New York on Monday.
