Ferrari and Acer launch a GPS Racing Portable Navigator
Acer, one of the sponsors of Ferrari's Formula 1 racing team, revealed already some Ferrari-branded products: an LCD monitor and a laptop.
These had a success especially between the Ferrari fans, so the company decided to enlarge its products. At the Computex 2007 the company announced the Ferrari Racing Portable Navigator, a GPS handheld that will help Ferrari drivers find their way, both on and off the racing track.
According to the reporters from Aving.net the device is quite an interesting one, albeit its value relies more in the outer design and name than in the features themselves. The Ferrari navigator (also known as the Ferrari Racing Pocket PC Travel companion) has quite an attractive design, dominated by the Ferrari red and black colors. Moreover, it sports a 2.8-inch QVGA display, large enough to allow users to view the navigation maps (provided by Navteq) even in bright sunlight.
Acer's navigator sports just about all the features one might expect from a modern, mid-range PDA with GPS capabilities. Thus, it includes a SiRF Star III receiver, and comes packed with the ALK CoPilot v6.0 premium navigation software, which allows users to customize routing profiles and create their own voice sets on the fly, but also overlay real time traffic information over the navigation maps, which could prove extremely useful, especially for long-distance drivers.

The Ferrari navigator supports some features, including the possibility of listening to music of viewing photos on the go. This is possible due to the fact that the device includes an SD/MMC expansion slot, which can be used for adding either supplementary maps or various types of multimedia content. Moreover, the device also incorporates a few important connectivity options, including here Wireless LAN and Bluetooth.
All good till comes the price information. Here is a problem, there is no information about the price or the availability of the device.
But you can be sure that the device will become very popular in the first place of the Ferrari fans and owners.
