"Civilization Revolution" game coming soon

The most popular PC video game will make its console debut by 2008 spring. The debut will include the release of the latest game in the Sid Meier's Civilization franchise. Similar to previous Civilization games, players will build empires, but with several new twists thrown in. Some of the improvements include "accessible maps and streamlined time scale for quicker gamers, intense combat, and constant action."

The game - Civilization Revolution is developed by Firaxis Games, published by 2K Games, and is described as "a watershed game, offering players a chance to experience the epic empire-building world of Civilization in an all new accessible, visually immersive, and action-packed world specifically designed for the console and handheld gamer."

The Civilization Revolution game game will include 16 civilizations, along with online play that includes integrated video and voice chat.

Sid Meier, Firaxis Games Director of Creative Development, said that: "The Civilization Revolution is the game I've always wanted to make!"

The 2K team did not revealed which console will support the game, or if the game will be on the PCs.

"Civilization is one of the world's top selling PC game series with more than 8 million units sold, and continues to be recognized as one of the greatest franchises ever created," said Christoph Hartman, 2K Games president. "We are excited to have Sid Meier getting back to his roots as the game's lead designer to carry on its legacy with Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution."

The team did not announce more details about the game, but they said that these game will become a true revolution in the game industry.
