20 Million Symbian Phones Sold
Thank to all the mobile companies for the big number of the devices, from which we can find one on our taste. The simple one, the one for business class and not in the last order the smartphones, each of this found its possessor. But it seems that the smarthones are more loved by us.
Symbian just announced that more than 20 million Symbain smartphones have been sold until now in Japan.
From only six smartphones in 2004, Symbian has reached the large number of 55 Symbian OS-based cellulars shipped in May 2007.
"Symbian offers functionality, security and flexibility that the mobile phone market demands, fast. We would like to further strengthen our partnership with Symbian to provide mobile phones that answer the needs of our customers," said Kiyohito Nagata, Vice President Managing Director, Product, Department at NTT DoCoMo
Haruhiko Hisa, President of Symbian Japan, gave credit for the great number of mobile phones sold until now to the partners that have highly contributed to the company's development. For this, he stated that "We have reached the mark of shipping over 20 million Symbian smartphones as a result of the support we have been given by all our network operators, handset manufacturers and partners to become a more open and versatile OS. Going forward, we shall focus on contributing to the development of high function handsets at lower build costs as well as continuing to fulfill our important role of enlarging the mobile phone market."
Symbian also develops and licenses Symbian OS, the operating system used in the case of smartphones.
